FAMILIES ACROSS PAPUA NEW GUINEA EMBRACE AIR NIUGINI’S DISCOUNTED “NAMBAWAN FARES” FOR GRADUATION TRAVEL

Families throughout Papua New Guinea are seizing the opportunity presented by Air Niugini’s discounted Nambawan fares to travel and celebrate their children’s milestones during graduation.

The airline’s Nambawan fares offer saving of up to 60% on standard ticket prices and are available most of the year. With five price points available, this initiative provides an excellent opportunity for families and individuals to travel without stretching their budgets.

We caught up with several families who took advantage of these incredible discounted fares at our sales offices nationwide.

Young Destinilla Sorepha will be graduating from the Anthropology, Sociology, and Archaeology strand at the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) next month. Together with her parents, Rueben and Paute, they recently purchased a total of seven tickets from the discounted Nambawan fares at the Goroka sales office to travel to Port Moresby and back for the graduation. The normal airfares to/from Goroka are K900 one way per person, allowing them to save half the total costs.

A happy mother, Mrs. Sorepha, said, “Traveling for graduation is a very expensive exercise, but these cheaper Nambawan fares by Air Niugini mean we have additional money to help with food, accommodation, and other expenses while in Port Moresby for the graduation. We saved over K6,000 by buying Nambawan fares.”

Another customer, Kuks Iva, also based in Goroka, purchased a total of six tickets under Nambawan fares for his family to attend his son’s graduation at the University of Papua New Guinea. “My son is graduating in Computer Science, and it’s a very special and memorable occasion for my family. The special fares by Air Niugini will go a long way to help us plan our activities before and after the graduation,” he remarked.

At Air Niugini’s newest sales office at Dobel in Mount Hagen, trout farmers Samuel Opa and his wife Wati, from Bukapen in Mul-Baiyer, are traveling to and from Port Moresby for their son’s graduation. “Mipla hamamas tru, displa cheap tiket prais ken halivim mipla nau lo go lo Pot Moresbi na witnesim graduation blo pikinini blo mitupla,” an elated Mr. Opa said.

Across to Lae, a relieved single mother, Alita Sari, purchased five tickets. She will also be traveling with her family to Port Moresby to witness her daughter’s special day, where the young lady will be admitted to the bar following her training at the Legal Training Institute. “I couldn’t contain my happiness. I spent over K3,000 to purchase eight tickets and saved up to K6,000. I am taking my sisters and my sister-in-law with me to witness my daughter’s special day. This would not have been possible without Air Niugini’s support on the discounted Nambawan fares,” she expressed.

Another customer, Ms. Janet Kakapu, who is employed by Guard Dog in Lae, purchased six tickets to travel for her son’s graduation at IBS university outside Port Moresby. “It’s a great relief for me and my family in these tough economic times. The normal fares would have cost us over K10,000. With Air Niugini’s current offer on Nambawan fares, we saved K7,000. I did a search online and found these fares; I encourage other families to do the same. You can also visit any Air Niugini sales office now to take advantage of the discounted fares,” she advised.

Still in Lae, Francis Taks and Paulus Ten purchased two return tickets from Lae to Port Moresby for Mr. Ten’s son’s graduation at the Port Moresby Technical College. “Mipla ino save olsem kain cheap airfare olsem em stap. Mi wok lo tingting planti lo hau bai mipla mitim olgeta expense blo graduation stap na halivim Air Niugini givim lo sait blo tiket, em gutpla stret lo mipla ol papa mama. Tenkiu tru Air Niugini lo nambawan fare blo yu,” Mr. Ten said.

Across the seas to Kokopo in East New Britain, Pastor Nelson Ainu purchased two return tickets from Rabaul to Port Moresby for his son Michael’s graduation , also at the Port Moresby Technical College. Pastor Ainu said, “Mi bilip, displa bai halivim mipla ol papa mama lo kain taim olsem blo graduation, na lo wankain taim, mipla ol wok man blo God long mekim wok mission, em displa fare bai halivim mipla gut tru.” He paid less than K2,000, while the normal return fares for both him and his son would have cost over K5,000.

Back in Port Moresby, many students traveled on Air Niugini’s discounted Nambawan fares for graduation, including young Shannen Manisa, who traveled with her mother for the graduation at Goroka Technical College in Eastern Highlands. Miss Manisa capitalized on our discounted fares, making her travel for graduation both affordable and easy.

Seats are limited and therefore, we encourage our customers to plan ahead, book and purchase your tickets as early as possible to celebrate these milestones together. As with any travel plans, having an itinerary can help ensure you make the most of your trip while taking advantage of the discounted fares.
