Air Niugini Suspends Operation To Buka , But Increases Flights To Kieta

Air Niugini flights to and from Buka airport in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (ARoB) have been suspended, effective from today Tuesday 13th August.
The airport authority, National Airports Corporation (NAC), has closed the Buka aerodrome due to security and safety issues on the ground. The NAC closure notice is for one month until Thursday 12th September.
Air Niugini previously operated six flights per week to and from Buka airport (daily except for Sundays), and twice weekly services to and from Aropa airport in Kieta.
