Update on Link PNG Dash 8 Aircraft

June 15, 2018

A Link PNG Dash 8 aircraft, P2-ANX was set on fire and burnt out by rioters who invaded Mendi airport yesterday afternoon following an election petition decision by the courts.

The airline was operating a scheduled Regular Public Transport (RTP) service to Mendi when the incident occurred.

The airline crew including two pilots, a load master and a cabin crew member have now returned safely to Port Moresby.

Link PNG will also complete a full review of what occurred, and a risk assessment in accordance with PNG Civil Aviation Safety Authority (PNG CASA) requirements.

The services to Mendi are suspended and also temporarily to   Tari and Wapenamanda, whilst Link PNG reviews its schedule due to the lack of this aircraft to provide services.  Link PNG hopes to resume services to Tari and Wapenamanda as soon as possible.
